there and again (2019)

This piece is about pulling yourself out of the midnight shadows and turning towards the dawn to face the world with all its flaws and possibilities.  It's not about running from where we are but embracing the winding paths and left turns that have brought us to where we are currently at.  Having recently returned to the studio after a career-altering injury, this piece was an intense examination of what comes after.  For me, it was after an injury.  For you, it might be after the loss of a job.  After a loved one passes.  After COVID abates.  While creating this piece, I realized that in the after, we find the next beginning.  After all, the night is darkest just before the dawn.
